HOME                                                        COMMENTS FROM NEW OWNERS OF OUR HORSES

Fast forward a few years & I started doing my research on the Norwegian
Fjord horse. I quickly came to realize that "hey, there aren't many of these
around". I finally ended up finding a sweet broodmare, Elsie Rose as well as
a quiet little riding mare, Kjor Tina, both in foal and brought them to
Washington.

When they arrived I could not believe it - they were better than I had
imagined. Let me back up a step... I had been dreaming of these horses for
years, researched farms for at least a year and had created this "Wonder
Horse" in my mind. I was a little worried that I had created such high
expectations that these horses would never be able to fulfill my image of
them and I would be sorely disappointed. WELL...everyday those first few
weeks, I fell deeper in love with these mares and I continued to be more
impressed with them each day. Was I just imagining this? No. Horse people
from around the area came to see this unique breed & were impressed with
their mild manners & easy going ways.

While waiting for my mares to foal I started to research stallions to breed
my mare to next. There was no way to not have another one of these running
around in the pastures! I found one I truly thought would be "IT". During
the waiting time, I found out about Fair Acres Ole and was once again in
that shock & awe of such a stunning creature. And wait - he's for sale? I
could not believe my luck - I knew this was one of those opportunities of a
lifetime. So Ole will be coming out West f

The rest, as they say, is history. The Fjord community is truly gracious,
kind & warm hearted & anyone looking to buy a horse will do well buying from
a reputable breeder here. We are proud to call ourselves Fjord owners &
breeders. I hope that our farm will be able to add to the Fjord horse
community!

After years of being a veterinary technician and working with many breeds of horses, I decided
I wanted a Fjord. I researched many Fjords farms and was truly thrilled when I found Bob & Sally's.
It was a long drive in the winter weather, but well worth it, what a gorgeous place and incredible
Fjords!!! Everything is kept in tip-top shape with nothing being out of place, we were treated as
though we were part of the family and we looked at many gorgeous Fjords. We had a hard time
making up our mind on just one and so we ended up purchasing two colts. I would have to say
The Kjorvig's have the best looking, nicest tempered Fjords I have ever been around. Our two
Fjords are now coming three and they are working nicely on our ranch under saddle. We even used
them this past spring during calving and they did great!!! Our children also love to ride them and think they
are just awesome!! We would highly recommend Kjorsvigs for any Fjord, they know what they are selling and will not ever steer you wrong. These are very trustworthy people who care about what the sell and who they sell them to.

We love "Liberty"  -  we renamed her Freya  (Norwegian spelling I think is Frihet which means something close to freedom or liberty). Jim and I have Wednesdays off and today the weather was lovely and Jim and I went riding on the horses -- I had Freya, and she really behaved quite well.  Jim had Ulf and he said that he could sure see the Norwegian in Ulf, as he would do what you wanted when it was the same as what he wanted to do anyway.  Ha!  But we all had a good time.  I am laughing alot more now that we have the horses -- I think life is more fun again!  So, that is sure worth it!
Sally, I would be very happy to serve as a reference for your Fjords!  Freya is gorgeous and smart and I laugh often at how she hides behind her forelock and looks like she is planning a little mischief.  She usually whinnies when we drive up in the truck.  Sony is gone at college right now, but she got to hear Freya whinny on the cell phone the other night when I was talking with her.  Today, Freya was whinnying at the 10 year old son of the farrier who had accompanied his dad -- she wanted him to come back across the pasture and pay attention to her!  She just likes kids, which I think is great.

HI from East Texas,
Just thought I would let you know that Hannah and Petri are doing great. We finally got rid of all the excess hair. Boy that was a job.
They are so pretty. I think they are just a little spoiled. Hanna has began to come to the back gate at all times of the day calling.
They all know that when we go out to take care of them that a cookie is coming next.
Hanna just wants more than the others I think.
They all get their feet cleaned at least every other day and Hanna and Petri seems to like all the pampering.
When we brought them home, they just fell in with my other horses like they had always been here.
I did not know how protective they were. We have a dog that likes to run out into the middle of the animals.
He has learned not to get around the horses because Hanna and Perti  with my little paint mare will chase him all the way back to the fence.
Go figure.
Well I should go for now. I will send you pictures as soon as I get some on the computer.

God Bless You,
Sammie and Anthony Floyd

We are the proud and happy owners of Kjor Ole and Ashwood Angar. We are located in Indiana and contacted Sally and Bob Kjorsvig about our needs. We wanted two geldings for intermediate/beginner riders. They contacted us and send us some pictures of Ole and Angar with their training records. We decided to fly to SD and look at them. I will never forget this cold Saturday when we met Sally and Bob and the horses. We tried the horses and were stun by the quality of their training and their tempered behavior!. We were very pleased by the welcome and the transactions with Sally and Bob. Not only, they provided us with all records (health, horse care, training) of the horses from their birth, but also contacted us when the horse transporter left the farm.
Ole and Angar are now grazing in Indiana. We are trail-riding them and even driving them (never done it before!). They are wonderful!.
We highly recommend this breeder and if you would like to contact us or see Ole and Angar, please send an email to Sally and we will take time to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you very much

Though Tim had ridden a great deal as a young man, my husband was shopping
for the very first horse to be his own. We knew he wanted something of
sturdy build, great temperament, around 15 hands and unique in appearance.
When we stumbled across some Fjords at the local horse expo, Tim was hooked
and the search was on. Tim found the Kjorsvig's website on the internet with
an ad for a gelding who was 3 yrs. and 15H. I thought to myself that MAYBE
he'd "end up" being 15H. Well, several video tapes later, a pre-purchase
exam, multiple phone visits with previous Kjorsvig customers, one long
trailer ride to nearly the Pacific ocean... and Dandy arrived in Oregon. I
had been told by Sally's other clients that whatever she told me about the
horse, it would be the truth. Dandy was everything she had said he would be,
including 15H on the money and he was only 3 1/2 yrs. old. Dandy is a hit
where ever he goes, he has his own fan club at the barn he lives at...if
he's not in his stall, the kids want to know where the horse with the
"Mohawk" is! He is also the official babysitter for our 17H "drama queen"
warmblood whenever we go trail riding, they are best of friends. He turned 5
this summer, and Oregon must agree with him as he is standing just under
15.3H! He's been a great addition to our family!

We bought 2 mares from Sally & Bob. Anja & Libby, in our eyes, they are the most beautiful fjords and have the best temperment. The girls are easy to work with and have a willing personality. Sally & Bob are great to work with and you know there is always a warm cup of coffee waiting for you when you visit.

We have two Fjords from the Kjorsvig's Fjord Horse Farm.  From the day they are born they have the best of everything a horse can have.  Lots of grooming, medical care if needed, pampered, human time spent with them and lots of TLC.
I'm proud to say my horses came from the Kjorsvig Fjord Horse Farm of Bob and Sally Kjorsvig, Roslyn, SD

Hi!  Here is a link to some photos of Brianna.  They are not very good because it was getting dark and it was hot that day (in the low 90's).  She is sweaty in the photos.
I will take some more in the daylight and with us on or standing beside her.
I rode her yesterday for the first time.  She did fine. We are very happy with her!

I bought Olaf from Sally Kjorsvig on February 2005.  He went to his brand
new home in Mazeppa Minnesota and settled in very well.  He is everything
that Sally said that he would be - a nice, calm Norwegian Fjord Horse.  We
do a lot of trail riding together and he is very safe and fun.  I couldn't
be happier with Olaf..  Linda Barnhart

Sally,
I am sorry I took so long to get these to you. We started a new business and it has been very busy.
We love the girls and they love us, especially the kids. Our 1 1/2 year old is not happy unless he gets to see the girls every day.
Sincerely,
Newell and Family

Sally, Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoy Amy and Tulla, they
are both doing great and a real pleasure to work with. We really enjoyed
our trip out to your farm and the drive out to South Dakota. We really
appreciate the hospitality and a chance to look at all your wonderful
antiques. Your horses are some of the best we have looked at and you are
some of the friendliest fjord folk too. We hope to visit you again
sometime. Thanks So Much, Theresa Slepicka Endeavor, Wisconsin

He sure is good at opening gates! He even works on the door knob. Everything is Hagar proofed. He is still a stallion, and is really no problem that way, but I like him so much I am thinking about gelding him so I can use him on poker rides and stuff. They don't allow stallions in group rides. At this point I do think he got my mare bred last summer, as she has not come into heat yet this year. I have had a saddle on him a couple times, but that is about it, but plan on putting a few rides on him this year. I think he is still fairly young to ride much, but he sure is good looki g and strong. Mary

Hello Sally,

I rode Klissen today for the first time. It's been raining here, that's why it took so long. I went to the pasture, put a bridle on her, climbed on a salt block and jumped on. And we rode off. I know she had never been rode bareback but she didn't seem to mind. I even had a different bit than you had used. I ride in a copper plated broken bit. She was a doll.

I am very pleased with Klissen. I am glad I decided to buy her from you. You were very helpful with this first time Fjord buyer. She is everything you said she would be. I am planning on purchasing another mare in a few years for my son and I will be contacting you again. Maybe next time I can get you to part with one of your greys. Thanks and I will keep in touch and update photos.

These photos were taken the next morning after she arrived. I went out that night when I got off of work at midnight. I climbed in the round pen with her and she walked up and let me rub all over her. Like she had been there all her life. Thanks again and I'll talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

Sherry & Briar(son) Smith

He loves her, might have to buy another horse sooner. I may have lost my riding mare to him. He's 2 almost 3. He walks out to the fence she she leans over and he pets her nose. He was out tonight pulling grass and feeding her over the fence. I'll send some photos of that later.
